INVESTMENT SERVICES - Structuring a Retirement Plan

There are three parts to a good retirement plan

1. A program of saving and regular contributions to your plan.

2. An investment approach that puts your savings to work for you.

3. Using the proper retirement plan formats that allow you to

defer taxes and increase the earning power of your investments,
optimize annual contributions,
invest with flexibility, including the use of professional management.

Morris Vickers’ doctoral thesis, Developing Materials to Enable Ministers to Evaluate Their Retirement Program Alternatives, reports the conclusions following a study of 20 years of statistical and historical records of five approaches to funding retirement programs. This 20-year study is now a 35-year record and provides the basis of Financial Security Advisors’ expertise in structuring retirement plans.

Our experience in 403(b) Plans, most commonly used by churches and other religious (501c3) organizations, includes 403(b) retirement program documents written by Morris Vickers and given a favorable Private Letter ruling by the Internal Revenue Service.

Morris has also counseled churches on how to structure ministers’ compensation to take advantage of current tax laws, optimizing effective income for the minister. Through proper planning, it is sometimes possible for the church to give the minister a raise without costing the church additional dollars.

Financial Security Advisors works with individuals and organizations to select appropriate retirement plan types, optimize personal and employer contributions, and provide the flexibility required for long-term investing success.

At Financial Security Advisors, we are always available to answer questions of a financial nature for any minister or family member, regardless of whether or not they are a client.
