THE STORY OF THE FAITHFUL STEWARD

“Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful”
(1 Corinthians 4:2  NKJV)

A wealthy businessman decided to take an around-the-world trip.  He called together three of his best and most trusted friends.  “You each know me very well and will not purposely do anything that will harm me”, he said. “I am going to give each of you a third of my investments to manage while I am away. You have the freedom and authority to make all decisions about what to buy and sell”. With those instructions he left on the trip.

The businessman returned from his trip and called the three friends for an accounting of his investments. Each reported their success in achieving substantial gains in his accounts

The first friend, Joseph, was asked what strategy he used to make gains in the account entrusted to him. “I know you do not like paying high management fees, so I invested in index funds that reflect the markets and charge only a small fee”, Joseph replied.

The business man, obviously disappointed, said, “You believe investment cost is the value most important to me”.

The second friend, Mary, was asked her methodology. She said, “I know you are a results driven man so I employed a financial manager to make the decisions. I told him to focus on high growth companies”.

For Mary to believe that, “making the most money”, is his most important motivation for investing distressed the businessman.

YOU are the third friend he invited to share in the investment of his wealth!

Yes! You are the third friend.

Here is Your Report:

“I have listened to your words and watched your actions. I invested in companies that provide services and products that protect the innocent, respect life, and encourage husband/wife relationships. I avoided investing in entertainment that is demeaning to the spirit and companies that engage in providing products that harm the body”.

The businessman exclaimed with joy, “You know my values and share them. Well done my good and faithful steward”.

To the first and second friend he said, “Learn from what you have heard. Now take what I entrust to you and do as the third friend has done”.

Picture Jesus Christ as the wealthy businessman.  Can you see yourself as the third friend? Is this your story? It can be.
